How To Install Video Card?

Through the guide you will learn to install video cards the DCG way, Step by step. Although this guide aims to video cards using a slot AGP or 16xPCIe, it can also be used to install audio cards as well as any other cards that fit in a slot PCI or 1xPCIe.
The installation process is the same for any cards you wish to install.
To install video cards we need a Phillips screwdriver. It is a good habit not to work with magnetic tools. Do not use one if possible.
Before we begin, I want you to go read the disclaimer to the bottom of this page. If you agree, then we are good to go.

Step 1

Preparation
Find a suitable place for working and open your case by removing the left panel.

Note: If you have to break a seal to open your case, be advice that you will no longer be able to reclaim your insurance in the case something happen to your computer in the future. Merchants put seals on the case to ensure clients will not attempt to repair it themselves then try to reclaim their insurance.

Clean your hands and be sure they are perfectly dry before touching any piece of hardware. As I like to say in all my installation guides, if you ask why, then take a look at my friend's bad story.

Step 2

Preparing The Slot
Unscrew and remove the slot cover from your computer case. Unscrew only the cover for the slot you will use. If you are installing a video card as an upgrade, then remove the old video card after having unscrewed the card's slot cover.

Step 3

Installation

Caution: Do not touch the video card's contacts; a fingerprint there could render your video card useless.

Before installing the card, take a good look at the other slot covers of your computer case. Look how they are installed at the bottom. Not every computer cases are made the same way. If you do not understand how your card's slot cover must be installed, you are going to damage something. So be careful there.
Video card descriptions
PCIe Video Card From ATI
Modern motherboards have a flexible plastic lever attached to the slot. When you will install the card, move it a little. It should sit on the back of your video card's hook. When the card will be installed correctly, the plastic lever will have slid in the video card hook.
Sit the video card in the slot and place its slot cover accordingly. Then use your thumbs to press from the top of the card until it fits perfectly in the slot. If you have trouble to install the card I suggest you gently do a balancing movement from left to right to help the card contacts to fit in.
Congratulation, you just installed your video card by yourself.

[I hope you appreciated the install video card
guide and I invite you to take a look at the other guides.]
