If you have a netbook or a PC with small monitor, maybe the large icons that appear on the Windows 7 Start Menu may look annoying to you, so in this post I’m going to show you the way how to make your Start Menu icons smaller.
1. Go to Start, right-click on it and select Properties. (This is not the only way to access the Start Menu Properties but this is the easiest.)
2. The Taskbar and Start Menu Properties windows will appear to you. Now you are at the Start Menu tab, so you have to click to Costumize.
3. At the new window you can notice there is a huge list with settings for the Windows 7 Star Menu. You have to scroll down at the bottom of that list and you will see the Use large icons option, so just uncheck it (this will activate the small icons feature in your Windows 7 Start Menu), click Ok and you are done.
Now go to your Start Menu and see the new look. It should look like in the picture below. You can notice that when you change the large icons also the Start Menu in Windows 7 gets smaller.
