How to disable thumbnail preview in Windows 7 taskbar

Among the changes that Windows 7 brought, we can notice that there is a completely redesigned taskbar similar to the Windows Vista one but completely different from the older version of Windows. Also there are added new functions like pinning which allows you to pin your favourite programs, files and documents on the taskbar for easy access and the live taskbar previews which shows you live preview of what is opened in a particular windows when you point to the taskbar button.
The Windows 7 Taskbar
For the XP lovers I wrote in one of my previous posts a quick tip on how to make Windows 7 taskbar look like the one in Windows XP. But now I’m going to show you how to disable the live taskbar preview, which can affect the performance of your PC.
So here we go.
Go to Computer on your desktop, right-click it and select Properties.
Computer Properties in Windows 7
After this the System windows will be opened. Click at Advanced system settings.
The Advanced system properties windows will appear and from the Performance section click Settings.
Advanced System Properties
And now we are at the final step. In front of you will appear the Performance Option window with the Visual Effects tab active. From the list below uncheck the Enable desktop composition and click Ok. Within a second the changes will apply and this feature will be disabled.

But sometimes if you want to activate again this feature, just follow the same steps and at the end just check the Enable desktop composition and click Ok.
At the end if you point to the buttons in the taskbar there will be only a text description of the same window.
