Free computer memory tests exist somewhere on Internet, providing tools to help peoples to see if their computer memory has a problem of some sorts.
Many times I heard peoples asking how they could find out if their memory is still good or if something bad happened. Do not worry anymore, because today I will show you how you can do it by using free softwares found on Internet.
Let start by trying to find what may be a memory problem.

Possible Computer Memory Failures

First you must understand that one problem might come from different sources. It does not mean the source is the same because a problem occurs twice. Today's computers are lot more complicated than the old days, being tricky sometimes to find out the problem's source.

For example, booting failures does not always occur when the memory fall apart. The source can simply be the hard drive wire not correctly fixed in the bus socket. Maybe it has happened when transporting the computer case. It happen sometimes.
Now this said, here some possibilities of computer memory failures that might light the red button.

• Failure to boot the computer
• Computer seems to want to boot but stops at an early stage making a bip bip alert
• Suddenly you feel the computer is somewhat slower
• Heavy games or softwares does not start anymore
• The booting process takes lot more time then before

Many other possibilities can be the problem's source but I will stop here not to get off topic.

Memory Test Utility

As I said earlier, there are free memory test softwares on Internet we can use. There is Memtest86 and Windows Memory Diagnostic from Microsoft. I am providing the download links at the end.
Memtest86 is maybe the easiest one to use as it is very friendly, and also there is a good basic support on their site if you get easily lost with that kind of software. Memtest86 is largely used by everyone who need to make a quick test.
Windows Memory Diagnostic from Microsoft is another test tool that does extensive stress tests on your memory modules.
Both softwares are very similar and do the same kind of tests. Those tests will make sure if something is wrong, you will find it out.

Memtest86

To download Memtest86 follow this link to open a new window to their home page. http://www.memtest86.com
Now click on Free Download on the left menu and download the latest ISO image, then burn the ISO image on a CD using your preferred burning software.
Now you are ready to make your test. Restart your computer using your Memtest86 CD and wait for the program to start.

Windiag

To download Windows Memory Diagnostic follow this link to open a new window to Microsoft. http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp
Click on the link, Download Windows Memory Diagnostic then start the mtinst.exe file it gave you.
Accept the agreement, then click on Save CD Image to Disk. Burn the Windiag.iso file on a CD using your preferred burning software and restart your computer using the CD. Wait the interface show up and voila, you are ready to make your test.
